The Bear, Albuquerque, NM

"The Bear" is one of the largest skate-able Arroyos (water drainage ditch) in the US. This arroyo is M-A-S-S-I-V-E!  I have never seen anything like it anywhere in the country.  This arroyo even has some locals trembling in there skate shoes.  The Bear is normally dry since it is a over-flow arroyo, meaning you can skate it all year round.  When standing at the top of The Bear it's a rush and my adrenaline starts pumping and my heart starts racing because it feels like there is a fairly good chance that I am going to mac it really hard.  When I rode this ditch for the first time earlier this year, just before taking the first push I began to debate whether or not I really needed to ride this ditch or if my ego was getting the best of me.  As I rolled down the first transition I hit speeds of roughly 25 - 30 mph.  Once I was past the first two transitions, I began to get the hang of it and then felt like I could not get enough of it.  When you ride down the side and up the next, the bank sling-shoots the board back down and then up the other side with some gnar transitions. If you dont hit the transition at the precise angle, you WILL eat it, or as we like to say, "Get Slapped."  Luckily the Bear hasn't slapped me...yet!
